I like Casino Royale!!! In Aug when I was staying at the IP last after my morning strip run both days I went into Casino Royale and sat at a penny machine and first time hit 196. Then the next day same machine hit 248 Then I went back at night got greedy and left them 20.00 LOL I would love to have some beginners luck at craps...Count me in...is it 2PM Casino Royale?

I'm not sure, but I think it is 2:00 p.m. at Gold Coast because of the pasta dinner. Anyhoo, that's where I'm going. What about the rest of you???

Washgirl,

Check out the first post on the thread - first session is scheduled @ The Gold Coast, just like Klink posted. If we want to set something else up for the Casino Royale, I'm game either late Sunday or earlier Monday. What say HiLo - others?

Klink was right on:

RE: LVM 21 Big Craps Blowout – 2007

I've skimmed over this thread.
Sounds like there's plenty of interest for a group Craps session.
Sadly, my flight lands about noon and I won't be able to make the 2PM session.

If other sessions are planned, (i.e. post-race on Sunday) let me know when and where.

My 2 cents for beginners....
1) First learn the "Pass Line"  (plenty of reading on the web)
2) Then add the "free odds" bet.
The game will go slowly for you at this point.
3) Then add the "Come Line", then with "free odds".
Now, there's more action, more often.
4) More advanced, "Place Bets" are OK for 6 and 8.
5) There are a lot of superstitions players have, and nearly
all can be ignored when playing low dollar and/or with friends.
Just never say "7", or even hint at it.
    When "7" is good, it's "a natural!"
    when it's bad, it's "a bad roll".
6) 11, called the "Yo!" is never bad. Yell "Yo!" when you see 11.

Hi Easy Rider,

First post - about Craps just my kind of runner  What days are you in Vegas? Sunday or Mondays are good days to find low min(s) tables. Some have brought up Casino Royale - only problem the tables there are usually packed. But, hey I'm game for just about anything - either early or late.

Who is up for another session either Sunday late or early Monday?

James

RE: LVM 21 Big Craps Blowout – 2007

Hey CPAK,

I'll be in LV from Noon Sat - Afternoon Mon.
So, Sunday is wide open post-race (maybe a nap in there).

Yeah, I saw the Casino Royale posts.
I don't really need a 100x free odds table. I won't cough up that much coin.
I'm not opposed to it either.

I have played $1 Craps at the Wyndam (corner of Harmon and Koval).
They don't have it every night, so we'll have to see if the have it on that Sunday.
The Orleans has $1 tables for many games since they train dealers there.

I generally look for $5 tables, and you can find them most everywhere in the AM. Start you play when the Sun is up, and when it sets and the players come out, the limits go up. But you're usually grandfathered at the lower limit as long as you don't leave the table.

I saw a program on the "Travel Channel" (aka the "Vegas Channel") that said you could reserve a table for a group at the Luxor. Everyone would have to "buy in", but you'd get to keep what you win.
This is generally a service for high rollers, but the Luxor was trying to market the average player that way.

I could go on, but I'll let folks digest that for a while.

Chris

VERY SAGE ADVICE!

For you beginners, just memorize 1, 2, and 5, and you will have fun and not lose (or win) too much. Plus you get to roll dice. Which brings me to #7..

7) When rolling the dice, make sure they bounce off the far wall (i.e., cross the middle) and that they don't hit any chips on the way there. People are superstitious about dice going OFF the table and about dice knocking over chips on the table. But you have to hit the back wall for it to be a legal throw.

And for you rookies that are math weenies, let me simplify this (assuming you are a math weenie).

By "free" odds, this means that the house neither loses or makes money on the odds.  Given that they make money off of everything else, playing odds is "to your advantage".  To put it in "slot machine" lingo, if playing the pass line has a 97% return, adding odds to the bet (which has a 100% return) will bump your return to 98% - 99%.

How do I know what the odds are?   This is always the toughest part for newbies.  The points are: 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, and 10.  Always think of them as 4 and 10, 5 and 9, and 6 and 8.  Group them that way in your mind.

From the 36 possible combinations of two 6-sided dice, here's how many ways there are to make each possible outcome total:

2 - 1
3 - 2

4 - 3
5 - 4
6 - 5

7 - 6
8 - 5
9 - 4
10 -3

11 - 2

12 - 1

So the odds for the points are the fraction of (possible combinations of 7)/(possible combinations of point).  Which is:

4 or 10: 6/3  (or 2:1)
5 or  9: 6/4  (or 3:2)
6 or  8: 6/5

So assuming you bet $10 on the pass line (which pays even money), and you can place 2x odds, which is $20, you would get paid for the odds:

4 or 10: $40 ($20 x 2/1)
5 or  9: $30 ($20 x 3/2)
6 or 8: $24 ($20 x 6/5)

Since you want to get paid the maximum amount (i.e., not get screwed by any "rounding"), you want to make sure your odds are (assuming you are not placing max odds):

4 or 10: ANY amount (since they can pay 2x on any number)
5 or 9: an even number  (so they can give you 3 for every 2)
6 or 8: a multiple of 5.

Clear as mud, huh?
