RE: Du-Tri race schedule 2010

Ok, I went through my proposed schedule again this morning and think I have it narrowed down to the following. This is just my duathlons. There are running races and cycling time trials as well throughout the year.

May 16 American Zofingen short course, New Paltz, New York
5mile trail-29mile road-5mile trail
June 6 Woodstock Ontario Duathlon 5k-30k-5k
June 26 Welland Ontario Duathlon 5k-30k-5k
Aug 8 Windsor Ontario Duathlon 3k-32k-6k
Aug.28 Cobourg Ontario Duathlon 10k-40k-5k
Oct.2 Powerman Duathlon long course, Muncie Indiana 10k-60k-10k

I am going to take a pass on going to the Duathlon Worlds this year in Edinburgh Scotland. We would have gone as a family to also visit relatives and that would be very expensive. I also found the Worlds (the race itself) last year to feel very elitist and exclusionary and not a fun experience. I know, I know, it's the Worlds, what did I expect??? Plus..... I got my butt kicked. I would rather work on my speed for a couple of years before I try that again!

The American Zofingen is an experiment. I know I won't be ready for the bike portion, that early in the season. However, my long term possible goal is to do the AmZof long course in 2013 for my 50th birthday. That is 5miles-84 miles-15miles. So this year is a scouting mission!

As for the Powerman, that is the duathlon equivalent of the Ironman brand - very big in Europe apparently. This is the first year that they are having a Powerman in Muncie so I am excited to experience it. The distance will be a stretch for me, but I will give it a try!

RE: Du-Tri race schedule 2010

Modified schedule... I won't be doing the Olympic on June 6th..turns out I am out of town that day OOPS...

Also, I have now been accepted for Great White North 1/2 Ironman on July 4th (I was on a waiting list for that)..so will be doing that and now maybe not Calgary (it is too close to IMC)

RE: Du-Tri race schedule 2010

Scheduled and done - first ever triathlons - all in Calgary AB

May 15, 2010 - UCTC Tri-it (swim 300m/bike 12k/run 3k) 1:26:51
Jun 19, 2010 - Chinook Olympic (swim 1500m/bike 40k/run 10k) 5:55:54
July 18, 2010 - Coral Springs Tri-it (swim 325m/bike 10k/run 2.5k) 1:33:04
Aug 8, 2010 - Chaparral Sprint Tri (swim 750m/bike 16k/run 5.6k) 2:39:08

We now return to running for the rest of 2010....with about 8 more events on the schedule. All local except for Vegas of course.

I was also the volunteer coordinator at Calgary's IM 70.3. Being involved with that for the last 2 years kind of motivated me to "Tri". Some people start doing these things at a much younger age. At 55 I say better late then never...lol.

The Olympic was my fav race over all even though I was the slowest one out there. Plan to work on improving things big time for 2011
