RE: March 2015

oh hi march
a little early, aren't you?

had a minor relapse over the weekend. and by relapse, I mean a 3-day binge.
probably gained 10lbs.

that's all it takes.

back on track now, albeit with higher-calorie smoothies. still all liquids.
the week is easy. it's the weekends where routine goes out the window that kills me.

otherwise, maintain the streak, and get 100 miles.
FWIW, I would like to get to 100 miles before my 100-mile race at the end of the month.

wee

RE: March 2015

Hi gang, sorry I've not been here much. Guess I donthave much to say. Same old, same old. Just continuing to work on my fitness and get what not. I really need it to get spring and stay spring. Today was a step that way, it was 38 so I got out for a nice walk. The forecast looks lovely for the next 10 days so I'll be taking advantage of it!

RE: March 2015

Angie, I agree, ready for spring. February just sucked here, no other word for it.

This was supposed to be a double trail (50K-full) for me, but Saturday was a total bust. I've never dropped out of a race, but at about mile 25 I was shot. I made it to the half point cutoff in good shape, but then started losing the trail and I think my mind a little.
I think I must have been dehydrated and sick a little, but my plans to come back Sunday fell apart. Was sick most of Saturday night and didn't even try to get up on Sunday morning.

Very disappointing since I had not only trained for this but felt like I was in better than average shape, not to mention I wasted money on a hotel and gas. But now my ever present optimism has kicked in, so I'm pretty sure I learned something from this. Plan to run a full the end of March so we'll see. But the last time I did something like this when I cancelled a race because it looked cold, I came back stronger and more determined.

RE: March 2015

Just getting back into jogging. February was a bad month for me. I do not know if being around sick students(University of Tulsa) or jogging in very cold night air...but bronchitis put me down. And of course..I can tough out anything...did not help at all!
After going to the doctor and telling him, I have been sick for 6 weeks, and him telling me, the story..you are not in your 20's....drop some pride and get in sooner, next time!!!
So this week,I walk the dog around the hood.....will jog on 3-14, if its not raining....jog next week couple of days..before running in Great Plains 10k on the 21st. Either I will be ok, but stiff, from the event or in the hospital with a relapse!
I have races all through April and May, before it heats up to much here.

Stay thirsty my friends!

RE: March 2015

After being sick most of the week was able to get out and get in a couple of good runs this weekend. Very nice weather for a change.

Hot Weather + Oversleeping = Six miles this weekend.
Good think I didn't run the LA Marathon. I would have missed it.

RE: March 2015

When I was younger I thought one advantage of being old was not having to sleep as much. That's bull, I sleep like a baby. If I had a real job I'd get in trouble for being late so much.

That's also why I'm kinda dreading my race this weekend, I'll have to get up before 4 am to catch the bus to the start. I'd rather start at 10, but I guess they want to get it over with and get the roads open.

RE: March 2015

Well, seeing as Umstead is in 3 days and I have 80.5 miles so far in March, I guess I won't reach my 100-miles before Umstead-100 miler goal.

But have no fear! Unless there is some sort of disaster, I will reach 100 miles total in March, extending that streak to 25 months. Probably in the first or second lap of Umstead.
