August 2015

It might be lonely here but it is August, so only a few months until LVM. Keeping up about 30 miles a week, and only complaining about the weather occasssionally.

Had my annual checkup and got a clean review from my doctor, I had put it off long enough I expected a lecture but she said I did better than most. I hate going but know that if I don't and get sick it will be that much harder.

Excellent running weather this morning, I got out early for 14 miles in a kinda light mist, didn't really get that hot so a good run.

RE: August 2015

Just came off a visit with my son (IceNuts) and daughter-in-law in Hot and Humid Baltimore. Along with the heat and humidity, there are not many flat routes to run there making it a bit challenging to stick to a plan. Despite that, I did get all my runs in and most were on pace or close enough. So July ended with another record - all time monthly record of 248+ miles, shattering my previous mark of 213. I am at 1342 miles through July, which happens to be my second best for a year. I should easily shatter my yearly record barring serious injury. In fact, I should break my record by around mid month.

August goal is to just keep to my training plan and most importantly stay healthy. (My achilles is hanging in there but the hills in Baltimore bothered it some so I plan to stay off any significant hills for a while) Also, going to get back on the bike more. Haven't been doing too well on that.

RE: August 2015

Usually I only run in one race in July.
Its the Porter Peach Run 5k. Porter the Peach Capital of Oklahoma!
Run around the city twice, one hill(not to bad) and its over.....only thing tough about it, is the heat. But the smell of peaches is everywhere...nice.
And a 4th. of July 5k
Then a 10k in downtown Tulsa......way to many hills...and really hot!!
So For someone who does not run to much in July and August...I have been running!!!!

So just one one in August..its a 10k...Place called Turkey Mountain...some real hills!!

Randy you're right on. I hate going to doctor but it's a necessary evil.
Hopefully they catch any medical problems before they go too far.

Everything's cool with my cancer PSA nearly to zero. I haven't been running but I have been going to the gym for the past 3 weeks and enjoying it again, feel like I'm making some progress in my core and upper body. Temperatures in the 110'-115' range out here. When it cools down a bit I may start running again. I occasionally look in on Facebook but really don't like going there. Too much non information to wade through.

have road will run

RE: August 2015

Gave platelets today so went home and napped before going outside for a short run, it rained so hard thought I was going to drown. These summer storms are funny, so big and scary then they just disappear.

With that short run I reached 1000 miles for the year, a little later but I missed a lot of runs this spring.

RE: August 2015

Running according to plan and even throwing in a couple extra miles or so. This week I hit 60 for the week - a new PR. Also set a new PR for yearly mileage already. Almost 1500 miles so far and counting! Have not been getting hardly any biking or swimming in however. The running seems to be making me plenty of tired so it's hard to get out especially when it's hot and I need to get an early start to my run. Taper begins for me this week for my next marathon though it's minor. Next week is where I begin more serious taper.

RE: August 2015

I put something like this on Facebook, but I do think it's a great blessing to be a runner, even if I do sometimes don't exert a lot of effort. But tonight I was in Dallas, running around downtown after dark and thinking I've seen a lot of towns this way. My one trip to San Franscisco was very busy, so all of the town I toured was after dark or early morning. I go to Dallas quite a bit, but after most people leave you can run around and see a whole different world. It's just cool. (Not the temp, this place is a humid hellhole).
