RE: August 2015

Trying to pick up a little, I actually ran over 10 miles twice in the last week. Hard to believe my next race is only 6 weeks away, and Vegas is only a month after that!

Warm weekend in southern California, but I still did enough to get over 100 miles this month.

RE: August 2015

Good job getting the 100 in Dean. Finished up August with another record mileage month - 225 miles. Second only to last month. I am in total taper mode now for my race on Saturday in Idaho where I hope to BQ. I've done everything I could do I believe. This has been the most intense training I have done for a marathon and I'm feeling ready. Even my achilles is doing pretty good with 3-4 pain free runs in a row. Now I pray for good weather, a settled stomach on race day, and a decent night of rest before. If all that happens, I feel good about my chances.

RE: August 2015

Well, guess I'm not doing the Freakin Fast Marathon since they cancelled it 5 days before the race due to road construction. Poor planning on their part. Anyway, I was lucky to get into the Pocatello Marathon in Idaho that is on the same day. Now I can make use of my plane ticket. I'll have a 3 plus hour drive from Boise so that is an inconvenience but it's doable. This course is also a downhill course but only for the first half. Then it levels off at an elevation of about 4500 feet (opposed to 2800 feet at the FF Marathon). So less down hill and higher elevation will likely make my BQ more difficult. But I believe I can still pull it off if I have a good day. I was pretty confident about my chance at FF, now I would say I'm optimistic as opposed to confident. We'll see.
